San Antonio Nexus Connection (SANC) is a Texas 501 (c) 3 community-based organization that aims to enhance community sexual health capacity in the Greater San Antonio Area. Core to all services at SANC is the concept that sexual health is one of the four pillars of health (physical, mental, sexual, spiritual). Further, SANC utilizes the six principles of sexual health (consent, non-exploitation, honesty, shared-values, protection and pleasure) as foundational and operational principles that guide all interventions. This innovative approach is not only effective in reducing stigma, but it is also crucial in normalizing sexual health as a community goal as opposed to focusing prevention or intervention efforts on one group or another. San Antonio Nexus Connection’s mission consists in delivering prevention and intervention to reduce the burden of the increasing prevalence of sexually transmitted infections, including new HIV and Hepatitis C diagnoses.
